Component Help Installer Release 2 (CHI2) installs Delphi-compatible help files into Delphi's OpenHelp system so that the help files are integrated with Delphi. Context sensitive help for components, classes and routines installed by CHI2 is accessible from the Delphi code editor, form editor and property inspector. CHI2 works with every version of Delphi from version 3.CHI2 comes in three flavours:A stand-alone Windows application (CHI.exe). This application is independent of the Delphi IDE and can be used when Delphi is not running. It detects which versions of Delphi are installed on the system and permits an available version to be chosen from the main interface. The CHI add-in experts can be configured from the interface.A Delphi add-in DLL based expert accessed from Delphi's Components menu (CHIExp.dll). The install program gives an opportunity to install this expert into all available versions of Delphi. The installation can be changed at a later date from the main application GUI or by running CHI.exe -e (without quotes) from the Start menu's run dialog.A command line application (CHInst.exe). The command line application is provided mainly for use from batch files and to be called from install programs. It provides all the functionality of the GUI based application and expert. As of version 2.2 CHI will merge any .als a-keyword files found in the same directory as the help file into Delphi's master .als file. This feature works only with Delphi 6 and 7, since .als files are not supported in earlier versions of Delphi. Release 2.2.1 fixes a bug in v2.2 - update strongly recommended.A sample component and its associated help OpenHelp-compatible help file are included in this release to provide some method of experimenting with CHI. The CHI help file provides an example of using the command line application. | | Back |
