This tutorial provides you with directions for profiling, monitoring, and performance tuning tips for hardware capacity, the Linux 2.2.x kernel, the IBM Developer Kit 1.3, and your Java applications with which you can build and run faster Java Applications on the IBM Developer Kit for Linux, version 1.3. The IBM Developer Kit for Linux, Java 2 Technology Edition, version 1.3 provides tools such as the JRE, the Java interpreter that executes the programming language, the JIT compiler that converts Java byte code into native machine code, the applet viewer that lets you run an applet from the command prompt, the demonstration applets that demonstrate the proper use of Java constructs etc with which you can develop and run Java applications and applets on Linux.
