mRMR Feature Selection (using mutual information computation) 1.0 Description
Description: This package is the mRMR (minimum-redundancy maximum-relevancy) feature selection method in (Peng et al, 2005 and Ding & Peng, 2005, 2003), whose better performance over the conventional top-ranking method has been demonstrated on a number of data sets in recent publications. This version uses mutual information as a proxy for computing relevance and redundancy among variables (features). Other variations such as using correlation or F-test or distances can be easily implemented within this framework, too.

More Similar Code

This code removes a feature from data file which it considers bearing least amount of relevant information.
It's usage intended to classification problems. It is based on fuzzy measures and similarity. Much wider description, explanation and some results can be found in article:

Similarity Classifier, Expert Systems with Applications, 38, pp.

Estimate Mutual Information with kernel density function

Normalized mutual information is often used for evaluating clustering result, information retrieval, feature selection etc. This is a optimized implementation of the function which has no for loops.

Two source code files of the mRMR (minimum-redundancy maximum-relevancy) feature selection method in (Peng et al, 2005 and Ding & Peng, 2005, 2003), whose better performance over the conventional top-ranking method has been demonstrated on a...

This is a self-contained package for running feature selection filters: Given a (usually large) number of noisy and partly redundant variables and a target choose a small but indicative subset as input to a classification or regression...

Calculate windowed mutual information between two signals up to a pre-defined lag. The estimation of the (joint) probabilities is optimized, hence, entire computation is very fast.

MATLAB code for "Computational Statistics: Feature Selection, Regularization, and Shrinkage"

Nowadays there are heaps of articles on the theory of fuzzy entropy and fuzzy mutual information. However, there is a clear significant lack for a Matlab implementation of these concepts. Based on numerous requests from students and researchers, I...

Mutual information I(X,Y) measures the degree of dependence (in terms of probability theory) between two random variables X and Y. Is is non-negative and equal to zero when X and Y are mutually independent. Conditional mutual information I(X,Y|Z)...
