PBCore 6.x-1.0-beta3 Description
Description: While lacking an Admin UI, this module is now used at multiple locations in production environments. Craig Sinclair (Amherst Community Media) created a screencast that shows how to configure the PBCore module for Drupal to display customized elements in a hierarchy to users. Kevin Reynen (Open/Public Media developer at large) added another screencast that shows how to add PBCore to any content type with CCK and how to use some simple javascript to limit the number of options show to users.

The initial release of this module creates 3 tables for 3 PBCore elements and populates them with items from the Public Broadcasting Metadata Dictionary. There are functions to return arrays of active items to use in other modules. These arrays can be used with CCK. The 2.x branch of the Open Media modules (om_show, om_project) already leverage this module when it is installed.

The 3 supported PBCore elements are Language, Rating, and Genre. By adding the appropriate function to a CCK text field, the options will be limited to items with their status set to 1.

if(module_exists('pbcore')){
return pbcore_get_languages('select');
}

By default, the 10 most popular languages are enabled as well as the ratings and genres used by most Open Media locations. If you'd like to have the full list of languages, ratings, or genres, simply add 'all' to the function.

if(module_exists('pbcore')){
return pbcore_get_languages('select', 'all');
}
Future Development

This module will eventually include UI to enable/disable elements, set defaults for the select lists, as well as customize and/or translate the item descriptions.

The core Show module defines the metadata structure for storing information about a show. In it's simplest form, it can be used as a digital replacement for the paper forms producers often submit with DVDs at public access stations.

Interaction with other modules:
Shows can inherit their default metadata from Open Media Project when installed, but Show can be used independently as well. Show uses PBCore, Creative Commons, and...
