This is an embarrassingly simple function to augment the currently available MATLAB colormaps. It works as a seamless replacement for the current maps like jet and hsv. So to use it you just call colormap(othercolor('colorname')). The function handles interpolating to any number of points (othercolor('colorname',numpoints)) and uses the current axis as the reference if numpoints is not specified.

The available maps are stored in the...

This case study shows how MATLAB can be used for a medical imaging problem. Given an MRI scan, first segment the brain mass from the rest of the head, then determine the brain volume. Also compare portions of gray and white matter present. This...

Serves as a first attempt to get publicly available MATLAB code for computing the hypervolume and hypervolume contributions. The implementation is usable in 2D and 3D. For 4D and beyond, it is not so efficient, but it does produce correct results....

The choice of colormaps for data visualization can affect the information accessible to color-blind users. For example large patches of cyan in an image with a bitonal cyan-magenta colormap (Matlab's "cool") might become invisible to...

The code given shows how Weka algorithms can be run in parallel across distributed computers using Matlab to take advantage of available hardware and quicken algorithm completion time on multiple data sets or parameter sets.

This tutorial shows how to solve optimal control problems with functions shipped with MATLAB (namely, Symbolic Math Toolbox and bvp4c). Steepest descent method is also implemented to compare with bvp4c.
The examples are taken from some...

This file contains slides from the talk I gave at the 1997 MATLAB User's Conference. It shows some programming patterns in MATLAB, relevant to version 5.0 and beyond. A few of the patterns may be suboptimal because of MATLAB changes since 1997.
